We are often conditioned by the negative images of us, about what we lack, about what we fail to do, about how we are missing from our family as fathers. Yet the image of fatherhood, even in white society, is simplified to one of financial provider, which can still make you feel inadequate sometimes. What I am learning more and more is that providing may not be providing much-that my attentive presense, my hugs and my time are all my child really wants from me, and that makes me feel F R E E. . .
